Champlin Library to offer programs for everyone in February

Educational and entertaining programs in support of lifelong learning and literacy are presented free each month at Hennepin County Library. The following programs are scheduled in February at the Champlin Library, 12154 Ensign Ave. N.

"Family Storytime," Saturdays, Feb. 6 to 27, at 10:30 a.m. - For children age 2 and up. Share books, stories, rhymes, music, and movement with children.

"Game On! Gaming Tuesdays," Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m. - For teens in grade six and up. Play PS2 or Wii games at the library. Grab a friend, bring a favorite board or card game, or play the library's games.

"Teen Manga Book Club," Thursday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m. - For teens in grade six and up. Whether someone likes shojo or shonen, or don't know the difference yet, discuss a favorite series and find new favorites here. Titles for each month will be selected by the club at the previous month's meeting.

"Paws to Read," Saturday, Feb. 13, from 1 to 3 p.m. - For kids in kindergarten and up. Certified volunteers help put young readers at ease so they can cuddle up with a dog or other animal and practice reading aloud. Call ahead to find out what types of animals will be visiting. Beginning one month before each session, sign up at the Information Desk for a 20-minute time slot. Presented in collaboration with North Star Therapy Animals.

"Teen Anime Club," Thursday, Feb. 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. - For teens in grade six and up. Can't get enough anime? Join up to watch and review brand-new anime episodes, share artwork and hang out with other anime fans.

"Winter Jackets Reading Program," Now through Sunday, Feb. 28 at all libraries. - All readers age 17 and up: check out some new (book) jackets on cold winter days and nights. Participants can read or listen to great stories, attend an author talk at several libraries (http://www.hclib.org/pub/events/), and share what they are reading with other book lovers online at bookspace.org or pick up an entry form at the library. All entries qualify for prize drawings. Presented in partnership with MELSA (Metropolitan Library Service Agency).
