On Oct. 29 the hallways and cafeteria were a wave of white, orange and pink at Osseo Junior High School. During the Osseo Junior High Fall Spirit Week, Thursday, Oct. 29, was "Pink is the new Orange" and students were asked to wear pink for breast cancer day.
Students and staff purchased official Pink Day shirts and donated money for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research fund. The student council had a walkathon and found sponsors to help them raise money also.
Altogether the students and staff of OJH raised $800. All were proud to raise money and walk on behalf of Amy Larkin, the school psychologist; Beth Nordland a former secretary; Paula Rackner, former Special Education Building Coordinator; Carole Metcalfe; mother to P.E. teacher Mark Metcalfe; Eileen Ward, mother to P.E. teacher Derek Ward; Donna Christensen, mother to social studies teacher Debb Christenson; and all other wonderful women and men who have fought or are fighting this terrible disease.
