North Hennepin Community College's Theater Ensemble will be presenting the hilarious comedy "The Book of Liz" Dec. 2 to 6. Written by the sibling playwriting duo of David and Amy Sedaris, this hysterical look at a cloistered woman on a big adventure in the outside world has become a sensation wherever it has played.

Liz, also known as Sister Elizabeth Donderstock, is Squeamish, a religious order not unlike the Amish. She makes cheese balls, (both traditional and smoky) that sustain the existence of her entire religious community, Cluster Haven. Feeling unappreciated among her Squeamish brethren, she decides to venture into the outside world to see what fortune has in store. One hilarious adventure follows another in this delightfully off-key hymn to all of the clich/ we live by, whether we know it or not.

David Sedaris has gained popularity through a series of radio commentaries and essays airing on National Public Radio. In addition, he has become a best-selling author who has written several humorous books. His sister, Amy, is an actress and comedienne who is best known for her work in the television series Strangers With Candy.

Performances run Thursday, Dec. 3, Friday, Dec. 4 and Saturday, Dec. 5, at 7:30 p.m., and Wednesday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. NHCC Theatre is in the Fine Arts Center located at West Broadway and 85th Avenue N.

Ticket prices are $8 for adults, and $5 for seniors, students, and matinee performances. Tickets can be purchased online at www.nhcc.edu/events or at the door 30 minutes prior to performances.
