The following incidents were reported by West Hennepin Public Safety between Dec. 19 and Jan. 3.
Independence
On Dec. 20, at 3:04 p.m. a driver traveling south on South Lake Sarah Drive/County Rd. 11 hit a pot hole. Vehicle had damage to the left front tire and possibly the axle.
On Dec. 21, at 6:05 p.m. a stove was on fire in the 5400 block of Lake Sarah Heights Drive. Loretto Fire Dept assisted.
On Dec. 23, at 7:33 a.m. a driver traveling north on Copeland Rd. approaching Hwy. 12, driving too fast for snow packed roads and was not able to stop for the stop sign and slid in to on coming traffic striking a vehicle traveling east on Hwy. 12. No injuries
On Dec. 23, at 3:40 p.m. an officer observed a vehicle weaving and crossed the fog line several times and driver riding the brakes on Hwy. 12/Valley Rd. The driver had a medical condition and North Memorial Ambulance arrived and transported her to Ridgeview Medical Center.
On Dec. 23, at 10:20 p.m. there was a call of suspicious activity that some one was walking around a vacated house with a flash light. Officer found neighbor on a 4-wheeler, plowing snow in the 2000 block of Old Post Rd.
On Dec. 24, at 3:38 p.m. a Polaris RMK Mountain King 700 CC twin motor snowmobile was stolen from the 6700 block of Hwy. 12. The sled has a long track with 3-inch track lugs - made for mountain climbing. The sled has a purple body with a yellow belly pan. The windshield is checkered like a racing flag and the word "cobra" is written on it. Any information please contact WHPS at 763-479-0500.
On Dec. 29, at 4 p.m. a jogger was bitten in his right arm by a dog in the 1400 block of Pioneer Creek Rd. Owner was located and the dog is quarantined for 10 days.
On Dec. 30, at 7:23 p.m. a victim had a battery blow up in his face in the 700 block of County Rd. 92. MP Fire Rescue assisted in attending the victim who was transported to the hospital.
On Jan. 2, at 10:50 a.m. a driver backed up into a vehicle at County Rd. 92/Hwy. 12. No injuries.
On Jan. 2, at 5:10 p.m. there was a third degree gross misdemeanor DWI, Steven Craig Walstad, 45 of Delano, .23 AC. Vehicle pending forfeiture.
Maple Plain
On Dec. 19, at 9:12 a.m. there was a report of vehicle damage to vehicle, large portion of the lower panel was missing and a red paint transfer on the car just behind the rear wheel in the 5200 block of Bryantwood Drive. Unknown if damaged occurred in Maple Plain or Wayzata.
On Dec. 19, at 4:31 p.m. there was a vehicle parked in the 5200 block of Bryantwood Drive that was struck by another vehicle.
On Dec. 20, at 12:49 a.m. there was a fourth degree DWI, Daniel Thomas Rivers, 31 of Maple Plain. AC .10% while on Budd and Independence.
On Dec. 20, at 12:32 p.m. a driver lost control of her vehicle went into the ditch at Hwy. 12/Howard Ave., no injuries.
On Dec. 26, at 3:03 p.m. the driver of vehicle had a medical condition, which caused him to drive into the ditch from Hwy. 12 and Oak Street, striking a power pole/line and hit a green house owned by the Hennepin Co-op. The driver was trapped in the vehicle and sustained minor injuries to his shoulder. Maple Plain Fire Rescue removed the driver and he was transported by North Memorial Ambulance.
On Dec. 29, at 8:28 a.m. there was a report of an identity theft/credit card fraud in the 4900 block of Main Street East. Purchases made in Australia, approximate total amount of unauthorized charges $8,500.
On Dec. 29, at 3:21 p.m. a vehicle failed to stop for the stop sign, continued to travel north through the intersection of Howard Ave. & Main Street E. and struck a vehicle. No injuries. Driver was cited for failure to stop for a stop sign.
On Dec. 31, at 10:44 a.m. Terri Wood, Manager from Curves delivered multiple stuffed teddy bears and animals that the members had donated to WHPS an MP Fire Department. The bears are given to a young child that needs extra comfort in an emergency situation.
On Dec. 31, at 5:49 p.m. a vehicle rear-ended on Hwy. 12/County Rd. 29. Driver admitted he was looking at his front passenger and watching/reading a text. Driver cited for fail to drive due care/inattentive driving. No injuries
On Jan. 3, at 5:20 p.m. a business in the 4900 block of Hwy. 12 reported a check written on a closed account. Suspect was contacted, stating she will pay on Jan. 5. Approximate loss $90.
